1830 - The 1840 Pennington Rate Book shows four silk receiving warehouses of the cottage type , where domestic silk weavers brought their cloth and
received payment and warp beams and yarn from agents,
located between Union Street and Hope Street (next street along Lord Street) and one of these was later occupied by The Volunteer and subsequently the Musketeer Inn.
