Description
18th century weavers' cottages, now modernised. Above the entrance to no. 270, on the left of the photograph, is a plaque which reads “SILK COTTAGE \ 1773”.
Herbert Worsley records in his 1993 book, A Pictorial View of Old Lowton, that “lengths of silk and other products such as scarves etc” could at one time be purchased there, whilst the adjoining cottage -no. 268- was, at the beginning of the 20th century, “the home of Mr Page the Venetian blind maker”.
