Description

The best indication of when the farm was built is the date plaque of “1701” on the front of the barn (now a private residence). The barn is a typical “Winnowing Barn”, with a large entrance at the front and rear, to allow air to blow through while the wheat was separated from the chaff by tossing the grain into the air and letting the chaff get blown away (winnowing).
